Where I come from
Concrete underfoot.
Country in my heart.
I’m from the South. I grew up with concrete, city pressure, and Black urban life around me. That’s part of what I bring to the music.
I found a connection to country roots through that life. Country gives me a way to express what I feel, in a voice that belongs to me.
I might not be the person you picture when you think of a country artist. I’m comfortable with who I am. I can be country at heart and carry every part of where I came from.
Country music is a form of expression for me. It gives that part of my life a place to speak.
